News & Events News & Stories Member News GLL’s commitment to apprenticeships celebrated at Active Training Awards GLL – the UK’s largest leisure charitable social enterprise was among the winners at ukactive’s Active Training Awards – scooping Apprenticeship Provider of the Year. Over 250 thought-leaders from the physical activity sector – including ukactive Chair Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, came together at the Reading Hilton to celebrate successful workforce development throughout the industry. Part of its social enterprise ethos, GLL exists to make a positive difference to the communities it operates in. In doing so, GLL remains committed to providing recruitment and development opportunities for local people – reflected in GLL’s apprenticeship programme. GLL’s apprenticeship scheme applies almost 25 years of industry experience and develops people through its Better leisure centres and the GLL College, nurturing candidates with bespoke training in line with the values that have helped position GLL as a thought leader in the sector – with 92% of apprentices remaining within the organisation in permanent employment.
